TEHRAN (ISNA) -- Director of Abyaneh Cultural Heritage Office in Isfahan province said that expert views of architects are needed for dealing with historic monuments in rural areas.

Azimeh Riyahi said that it is better that future course of action for safeguarding historical sites in rural areas be drawn up as part of a comprehensive plan which will include measures to ensure further integrity and coordination of villages.

She pointed out that the comprehensive plan for Abyaneh village is presently under compilation.

“The company in charge of preparing a comprehensive plan for Abyaneh village has recommended a specific site for tourism infrastructure that is presently being worked on by a team from Abyaneh Cultural Heritage Station,” she pointed out.

Abyaneh is one of the most important historic villages and efforts are underway to register it on the list of international heritage sites.

However, the construction of a hotel in Abyaneh has been a matter of debate between officials of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and the owners of the land where the hotel is to be constructed.

Inhabitants of Abyaneh have objected to the construction of a hotel in their village complaining that tourists will create problems for them.
